How did you get started with CrossFit?

I was an All-American in track and field at Georgetown University, and I had been training hard for the Olympic trials…I got injured and my chiropractor at the time told me to look into CrossFit as a means to stay strong. It was love at first site.

When did you get the idea that you wanted to compete?

The day I found It (CrossFit). I had been looking for something like this my entire life. I competed in the steeplechase in track and field, and I always used to tell my coach that I wished there was also a pull-up bar or a barbell in the middle of the race.

I’m extremely competitive, I don’t like to do anything unless I have the opportunity to compete with the best in the world.

What are some of the biggest changes you have seen in the sport of Crossfit over the last five years? Where do you think it is going?

The athletes have gotten stronger. I think it’s going to stay true to its core, as far as testing fitness, but athletes will continue to get stronger and faster.

Just like every other sport- records are made to be broken.

What does an average week of your training look like? How many times a day do you train? How many days a week?

I train 2 times a day, 5 days a week. I prioritize strength in the morning and I do my conditioning at night.

On my off days, I don’t do a thing. I train so hard, that I look forward to resting.

Do you use any supplements? If so, what do you take?

Nova 3 supplements. Max capacity, max adrenal, max perform, and max recovery.

If anyone wants to jump on board, use code SARAH10 for 10% off your order.

I also rotate a few other protocols that I have come up with when I feel like I am lacking something.

How important do you feel the mental aspect is in being a top competitor?

The mental aspect is everything once you are at the top. Everyone is physically strong. Everyone trains hard.

The separator is who can handle the day to day stress and who can show up on game day mentally confident and resilient when it counts.

What advice would you give to a CrossFit athlete looking to improve their game?

Work harder than you think you need to because someone out there is working harder. If you think you are working hard, assume It’s never enough.

At the same time, train smart, not more.
