Alpha JYM Review: Hoax or Help?

If you know a little bit about the fitness industry, then you may have heard of a guy named Jim Stoppani. At 50 years old, Jim has a Ph.D. and a physique that would make anyone jealous.

He likes using science to build incredible bodies and shares his information with the world.

One thing he prioritizes is optimal supplementation. With this in mind, he created his own testosterone boosting product that is based around research Dr. Stoppani has studied.

The name of his supplement? Alpha JYM.

But does it live up to the hype? Or is it simply another gimmicky testosterone booster? We continue our deep dive into popular supplement products to see if Alpha JYM is right for you.

We go over what Alpha JYM is, the potential benefits of taking it, dosage recommendations, side effects, and at the end, we stack it up against another popular testosterone supplement, Testofuel.

What is Alpha JYM?

Alpha JYM is, as stated earlier, a testosterone booster developed by overall badass Jim Stoppani. On the official GNC page for Alpha JYM, Mr. Stoppani is quoted:

“The ingredients in this bottle are what I have long recommended taking to support your body’s own testosterone production.

Each ingredient has science-based research to support its effectiveness at the doses provided in Alpha JYM. I designed this product, and all of the JYM products, for my own use.

Now you have the same tools to maintain healthy testosterone levels – as well as optimize your strength, lean mass gains, and mental function.”

We couldn’t have explained it better ourselves. It’s the only testosterone boosting supplement Jim uses, and he has a ton of knowledge in the area of building an amazing physique through optimized testosterone production levels.

What is Alpha JYM Used For?

Obviously, Alpha JYM should be used as a testosterone enhancer. More specifically, it is used to improve your own body’s production of testosterone.

Alpha JYM does this by including quality ingredients that jack up the systems within your body that creates natural testosterone, as well as the systems that turn free testosterone into useable testosterone.

Also, Alpha JYM has ingredients that block estrogen receptors, keeping your body in a prime state for building lean muscle, improving strength, and increasing mental clarity.

The biggest use of Alpha JYM should come from people with low T levels. They experience some terrible symptoms of their body not producing enough testosterone, including:

  • Low sex drive/libido
  • Difficulty with erections or erectile dysfunction
  • Low sperm count
  • Unexplained hair loss
  • Low bone density
  • Hot flashes
  • Diminished lean muscle mass
  • Fatigue
  • Problems with sleep/insomnia
  • Increased body fat
  • Testicular atrophy/changes in the testes
  • Difficulty concentrating or focusing
  • Depression

These are the majority of the issues that arise with low natural testosterone.

And you don’t want to take exogenous (meaning “testosterone already made from outside the body”) testosterone, also known as steroids, because this too causes many adverse side effects.

So where do people with low testosterone turn to? Well, other than cleaning up your diet and exercising a healthy amount (60 minutes per day, regular resistance training), supplementation in the form of testosterone boosters is the best solution.

Can Women Take Alpha JYM?

Technically, Jim created this product specifically for men over 30, as this is the group that suffers the most from low testosterone.

However, while it’s optimized to produce testosterone in men, none of the ingredients in Alpha JYM should adversely affect women.

Most of the ingredients, in fact, are beneficial to overall health for both men and women (as we will learn in a later section).

Due to the influence on the adrenal glands in women, Alpha JYM has been shown to slightly increase testosterone for the females.

There are other benefits to taking it as a woman. For one, it frees up testosterone from Sex Hormone Binding Globulin (SHBG), which is vital for overall well being.

For two, it alters estrogen into weaker forms of estrogen, further keeping your body from harm.

With all that said, Dr. Stoppani doesn’t recommend women take Alpha JYM.

While there aren’t any known complications that arise with doing so, it isn’t made for females, or even for males under a certain age. When that’s the case, it’s best to steer clear.

Alpha JYM Benefits

According to the Q&A section of his site, Jim claims that there are many benefits to taking Alpha JYM:

  • Increases testosterone production
  • Frees testosterone from SHBG
  • Prevents conversion to estrogen, DHT
  • Boosts sex drive and performance
  • Higher energy levels
  • Improves mental focus and mood
  • Additional strength, muscle mass, and fat loss

Of course, these are fantastic advantages to taking Alpha JYM. But are they legit? Will you get these benefits no matter what, or is it more smoke and mirrors? Let’s take a look at the ingredients to see what exactly is coming in the capsule…

Alpha JYM Ingredients

While it doesn’t have dozens of whacky ingredients, Alpha JYM still looks like it packs a punch with what they put in there. Here are all of the ingredients in Alpha JYM:

  • Fenugreek Seed Extract (500mg): Fenugreek is a well-studied plant, this ingredient has shown time and again its potent effects on improving testosterone production.
  • Damiana (leaf; 500mg): While it’s known in alternative medicine as a powerful sexual stimulant and aphrodisiac, there is a certain lack of scientific support. It’s also known to aid with headaches, depression, asthma, and anxiety, though this is also unsupported.
  • Diindolylmethane (DIM; 250mg): DIM is found in cruciferous vegetables and offers a whole host of health benefits, such as preventing various types of cancer and promoting fat loss. While it’s been studied to reduce the harmful effects of estrogen, DIM has also been studied to find it leads to apoptosis (cell death) and decreases sperm quality.
  • Ashwagandha root extract 5:1 (500mg): Another popular testosterone booster ingredient, Ashwagandha is a plant known in Ayurvedic medicine to help with low testosterone and all of the symptoms. It also improves VO2 max, which helps you become a better overall athlete.
  • Eurycoma longifolia root 100:1 extract (100mg): Street name Longjack or Tongkat Ali, this is yet another well-researched testosterone booster. Both anti-estrogen and pro-erectile, Longjack is best known for its aphrodisiac and pro-fertility qualities.
  • Quercetin dehydrate (250mg): Lastly, we have quercetin, a plant flavonol found in many edible plants. It is bitter in flavor and is used in numerous dietary supplements. It is used in Alpha JYM as a preserver, but it also acts as an antioxidant and scavenges free radicals, leading to a smattering of advantages.

So we have a little of this and a little of that. The inclusion of DIM is slightly concerning, and most of the well-known testosterone boosters lack a lot of scientific backing; therefore, it is looking like a 50-50 chance Alpha JYM is worth your time and money.

Alpha JYM Dosage

How Much Alpha JYM Do You Need Per Day?

Each dose of Alpha JYM equates to three capsules. According to GNC and Jim, you’ll want to dose twice daily, meaning six total capsules consumed in a day.

This gives you 1,000mg of the heavy hitters (fenugreek, damiana, Ashwagandha root), 500mg of both diindolylmethane and quercetin, and 200mg of Longjack.

When Should You Take It?

To take Alpha JYM, you should pop three capsules with a meal twice daily. For best results, supplement once in the morning, at breakfast, and again in the evening, at dinner.

There is one caveat to this. On days that you are training, you should take one of your doses an hour before the workout.

The other dose can be either in the morning or evening, depending on when you normally train. (For example: If you train in the evening, you’ll take one dose in the A.M., the other dose an hour before training.)

Alpha JYM Cycling

Jim Stoppani says that you do not need to cycle Alpha JYM.

Essentially, cycling is when your body makes a high amount of testosterone and you don’t want to downregulate the production of natural testosterone.

So before it gets to an insanely high level, you “cycle” off the testosterone booster so that your body can produce at this level on its own for a while.

Apparently, Jim claims that most test boosters do not affect testosterone production for this “negative feedback loop” to occur. So he says to not cycle on and off Alpha JYM.

It shouldn’t make you hit too high of a testosterone production level, so you can keep using it safely and effectively.

He also says that some testosterone boosting supplements need to be cycled off due to the sketchy ingredients and long-term side effects.

Then he goes on to claim that this isn’t the case with Alpha JYM. However, based off of the breakdown we saw with the ingredients, Alpha JYM could very well fit into this category of sketchy ingredients…

How Long Does It Take To Work?

Results and experiencing benefits are varied for everyone. Generally speaking, you should see the effects of Alpha JYM within 4-6 weeks.

However, some people experience benefits as early as within the first week. If you haven’t seen improvements yet, perhaps you are someone who needs the full six weeks to experience said improvements.

Alpha JYM Side Effects

There aren’t many side effects for Alpha JYM. Some reports have come in that people have experienced the following, though:

  • Fatigue
  • Diarrhea
  • Headaches
  • Nausea
  • Dark urine
  • Upset stomach

Be careful with any supplementation you use and always consult your medical professional before going on any testosterone booster.

The Verdict on Alpha JYM

There are a lot of mixed emotions surrounding Alpha JYM.

On one hand, the overall reviews seem pretty positive.

The GNC site boasts a 4.2 out of 5 stars from 45 customer reviews (with the majority being 5-star reviews).

Sadly, there are more things going against Alpha JYM. The negative reviews report headaches and other side effects mentioned above.

It is unknown whether Alpha JYM is made in an FDA-registered facility, or whether it’s made in the U.S.A. Not to mention, it doesn’t have any crucial vitamins or minerals, which would definitely boost their credibility.

There isn’t a 100% satisfaction guarantee offered, and there were some reviews that reported zero results.

With the turnout being so wishy-washy, Athletic Muscle deems Alpha JYM not worth your time. You can get the same or more in supplement form for way less.

(GNC sells a months-worth bottle at $39.99.) Overhyped ingredients, hit-or-miss results, and some additional ingredients not vibing well with a person’s well-being, we’d avoid Alpha JYM.

Alpha JYM vs Testofuel

Both Alpha JYM and TestoFuel are all-natural and include fenugreek. The comparisons stop there, as TestoFuel starts to theoretically blow Alpha JYM out of the water.

TestoFuel also includes D-aspartic acid, oyster extract, magnesium, zinc, Asian red Panax ginseng, and vitamins D3, K2, and B6.

While Alpha JYM and TestoFuel both make claims to improve testosterone production–along with higher libido, more muscle, increased strength, and less body fat–it appears that TestoFuel might be able to back up the claim better.

It includes crucial vitamins and minerals that are known to help with human hormone production.

Add to that the fact that most of the ingredients are backed by research, and you can rest assured that TestoFuel is the right choice. (If you want to learn more about TestoFuel, we wrote a full review of the supplement here.)

Conclusion

In the end, Alpha JYM might not give you the best bang for your buck.

It could potentially improve testosterone, but some of the ingredients have research to suggest the exact opposite.

On top of that, it doesn’t include any essential vitamins or minerals, which are really helpful in producing optimal amounts of testosterone.

If you want to find out for yourself, grab yourself a bottle and see what it does for you for a month.

If you experience all of the advantages we’ve described, then congratulations, it works for you!

But if you can’t afford such experimentation, we understand and we’re here to tell you that it probably isn’t worth it anyways.
